Until early 1999, the aviation and marine industries were the Division's core business sectors. Then, due to emerging opportunities resulting from a rebound in the property market, the Division acquired a line of building electronics products to tap into this market.

ESD now offers the following to customers in the Greater China Region:

- Airport ground movement control systems

- Airport equipment and vehicles

- Automatic terminal information systems

- Building electronics

- Direction finders for marine, aviation and spectrum monitoring applications

- Ground navigational aids equipment

- Large-scale cargo inspection systems (mobile and fixed installation) Marine electronics

- Radio communications equipment

- Thermal imaging for day and night surveillance

- Traffic management systems and simulators
 
 
Whilst Governments tend to be the Division's main customers, several successes have come from the private marine sector. ESD seeks to build on these, particularly in China, where its activities have increased considerably in recent years thanks to an intense programme of educating customers and knowledge sharing.
