The
Cable & Earthing Department is the largest of
the three Departments, with a solid customer base comprising
power utilities, electrical and mechanical engineering companies,
Government and private-sector developers fairly evenly drawn
from Hong Kong and China.
The
Cable & Earthing Department's main product lines are:

Single-core branch power cables manufactured by NND of
Japan. This agency has been held by Swire Engineering
for over a decade and commands a market share of nearly
60% in Hong Kong. Owing to electrical regulations in China,
it was only in late 1998, following extensive consultation
and customer training by Swire Engineering, that single-core
branch power cables were generally accepted for use in
China. Sales have begun at a much faster rate than originally
anticipated.
